Prior to my PhD I qualified as a nurse (RGN, 1983), then as a midwife (RM, 1986), then took a four-year joint Honours degree in Social Policy and Law (MA Hons 1992). My PhD concerned perinatal litigation - examining when and why people sue concerning pregnancy and childbirth.
