Anna Teresa Scheer is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne where she is completing her thesis on the work of the late German all-round artist and social transformer Christoph Schlingensief (1961-2010). She is the co-editor (with Tara Forrest) of the book: ‘Christoph Schlingensief: Art without Borders’ (Bristol: Intellect, 2010) and has published several further articles and book chapters on his work. She contributed to the recent volume, ‘‘We're People Who do Shows’: Back to Back Theatre - Performance, Politics, Visibility’ (eds. Helena Grehan and Peter Eckersall), and has lectured at the University of Melbourne and at Monash University where she taught Performance Studies and Theories of Theatre for four years. She lived abroad in London and Berlin for twenty-five years where she studied theatre and movement, before working at the Volksbühne theatre in Berlin and collaborating on a series of performance projects with marginalized groups. She relocated to Melbourne in 2007 and her research interests include contemporary and post-dramatic German and European theatre, social dramaturgy, politically engaged and radical performance, the punk movement and underground, and Live Art.
