PhD Candidate in Political Science, Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington

I earned my MSc in Political Science from Aarhus University in 2018 and was working as Head of Section at the Danish National Audit Office until I began my postgraduate studies at Victoria University of Wellington in March 2020. I developed an interest in pursuing postgraduate studies during my internship at the Royal Danish Defence College’s Department of Military History and War Studies in 2016. My research interests are within the fields of international relations and sociology with particular focus on the use of images in politics and personality cults. My dissertation revolves around the phenomenon of postmodern personality cults. More specifically, I am examining how contemporary forms of production and use of leader images differ from the modern personality cults, and how new developments in communications media have contributed to a convergence between personality cults across different political settings.
