Arif Nuryawan is a lecturer in Department of Forest Products Technology, Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Medan, Indonesia since 2003. His research is mainly focused in wood-adhesive interface/ interphase including interaction of wood filler-plastics matrix in broad forest products such as composite products, recycle paper, particleboard, fiberboard, plywood, and wood plastics composite.
He completed both B.Sc in forest products and M.Sc in forestry science from IPB University, Bogor, Indonesia and PhD in wood and paper science from Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Rep of Korea (South Korea).
He teaches some subjects to undergraduate students in USU, collaborates with colleagues form other universities in Indonesia and abroad, writes scientific articles in peer review journals, book chapters, and books. To date he is a member of Indonesian Wood Researcher Society (IWoRS).
