I was recently awarded my PhD by the University of Divinity, Melbourne. My thesis was in the area of Philosophy of Education. The title of my thesis is, ‘Educating for democracy in Australian schooling: towards a secular global age through an inquiry into the religious’.

My current research interests are: the relationships between inclusive democracy, secularism and education; values education; religious education; ethics education; and intercultural and interreligious relations.

The vision articulated by UNESCO’s Delors Report, Learning the Treasure Within to achieve world peace through education for a kind of democracy that is inclusive of all groups globally, has been - and continues to be - a source of inspiration to me, together with the writings of North American philosopher and educator, John Dewey.
