Barnaby Bennett is a Sydney-based designer, researcher and publisher. He is a publisher and the co-founder of Freerange Press which has published over 20 books on various themes around the city, design and politics. Barnaby teaches design across landscape architecture, architecture and design at universities in Australia and New Zealand and has been widely published in both academic and popular mediums. His PhD research examined the political role of temporary projects in post-quake Christchurch. In recent years Barnaby has worked on urban strategy projects with Right Angle Studio, RealmStudio, and Hill Thalis Architecture and Urban Projects. In 2018 he was Creative Director of the Festival of Transitional Architecture in Christchurch, and in 2019 the Creative Director of the Sydney Architecture Festival. He is currently working at that Government Architect NSW and Grimshaw.
