Ben Christopher Howard

🌊 PhD candidate in river restoration and water quality. Specialising in biogeochemistry (especially carbon and nitrogen cycling) in surface water - groundwater interactions (hyporheic zone chemistry).

👷 Skills in complex fieldwork methods, including fluorescent and smart tracers (resazurin-resorufin), and lab chemistry, including carbon quantity and quality, nitrogen transformation and GHG sampling and measurement.

🌳 Background in forest management. Former coppicer. Researching woodland products in nature-based solutions. Field experience domestically and in India, focusing on water quality, microplastics and ecological sampling.

🖋️ Writing commentary and dissemination articles on climate change, nature-based solutions and the philosophy of science. Interested in science-policy interface and science engagement.
