Lecturer in Law, University of Liverpool

Ben is a Lecturer in Law and Deputy Director of the International Law and Human Rights Research Unit. Ben specialises in public international law. His interests include international law and the use of force, international institutional law, and the interface between international law and public law theory, with specific reference to global constitutionalist discourse. He teaches Law and Social Justice, International Peace and Security, and the Law of International Organisations. Before his appointment, Ben was previously a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Liverpool, where he completed his PhD thesis. His thesis analysed the meaning, scope and applicability of the concept of accountability with reference to UN Security Council decision-making under Chapter VII of the UN Charter through a global constitutionalist lens. Ben holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Liverpool and a BA in Politics with French from Loughborough University.
