Benedict Carpenter van Barthold

Dr Benedict Carpenter van Barthold is a practising artist.

Benedict leads the Fine Art and Decorative Arts subject area at Nottingham Trent University. A recipient of the Jerwood Sculpture Prize, his sculpture and drawing has been exhibited widely. He has taught in UK art schools since 1998 and has leadership experience in Higher Education and arts administration.

Benedict is interested in the connections between art and film and is a Trustee of the Phoenix, a centre for independent cinema, art, and digital culture. He is also a Trustee of UK New Artists, an organisation that supports emerging artists and the next generation of creativity.

Benedict has a PhD from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Masters degree in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art.
