Benjamin van Rooij

Benjamin Van Rooij studies how legal rules shape human and organisational behavior. He has studied this across different domains including environmental regulation, land law, corruption, intellectual property rights, taxation, and food safety. His work has appeared in academic journals such as Regulation & Governance, Law & Policy, Law and Human Behavior, and the Journal of Business Ethics. He also publishes in popular outlets such as the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the Hill, and NPR news radio. e studies how rules shape human and organizational behavior. He is the co-author (with Adam Fine) of the forthcoming book, The Invisible Code: Why Law Fails to Improve our Behavior (Beacon Press).
