I am the founder and director of The Castle, a non-profit organization that works to create a culture of arts-integrated project-based learning in Putnam County, IN public schools, and co-owner of TransformEdu, a consulting company that works with college educators to develop intentional, holistic, and collaborative teaching practices. My books include Reluctant Theologians: Franz Kafka, Paul Celan, Edmond Jabes; Subverting Scriptures: Critical Reflections on the Use of the Bible; Ghost Writer: A Story About Telling a Holocaust Story (named a finalist for the 2019 Next Generation Indie Awards); and The Post-Pandemic Liberal Arts College: A Manifesto for Reinvention, co-written with Steve Volk. I am currently working with filmmakers Joel Fendelman and James Chase Sanchez on a documentary about public education.
