Beth completed her doctorate at Trinity College, Oxford, in 2007-8. She then taught at Keble College, Royal Holloway, and the University of Leeds before moving to the University of Surrey in 2010.
Her published work includes a monograph, Women's Authorship and Editorship in Victorian Culture: Sensational Strategies, (Oxford University Press, 2011), a co-edited volume entitled A Return to the Common Reader: Print Culture and the Novel, 1850-1900 (Ashgate, 2011), an anthology of Sensation Drama, 1860-1880 (Edinburgh University Press, 2019) and numerous articles.
