As a scholar of religion specializing in Chinese Religions – especially late imperial Chinese Buddhism – my intellectual interests include religion and media, comparative religious ethics, and religion and literature. I have written a book called Living Karma: The Religious Practices of Ouyi Zhixu (Columbia University Press, 2014) and published articles about Buddhist digital media, divination, repentance rituals, and board games. I'm currently working on a monograph about the impact of digital technology on moral attention — the capacity to discern and attend to the morally salient features of a given situation.
