Bin Lu is a senior electrical engineer with a 12 years’ experience of engineering design and consulting services in power supply and electrical systems for infrastructure, municipal facilities, commercial and residential buildings. He holds a Master and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degrees and is now undertaking a PhD study in renewable energy at the Australian National University under the Australian Postgraduate Award. His research interests include electricity system/market modelling, assessment of renewable energy resources, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) application development and power system analysis with expertise in the use of software such as SAM, ArcGIS, NEMO, AutoCAD, PowerWorld, MATLAB & Simulink. He has delivered a series of conference presentations and papers on the topics of high wind and solar electricity penetration and the integration of short-term off-river pumped hydro energy storage in Australia’s power systems.
