Brian Balogh is Compton Professor and Chair of the National Fellowship Program at UVa’s Miller Center of Public Affairs and Professor in the Department of History at the University of Virginia. He is the author of "The Associational State: American Governance in the Twentieth Century" and "A Government Out of Sight: The Mystery of National Authority in Nineteenth-Century America" and is currently at work on "In the Nation’s Backyard: How History Preserved Rural Life in Green Springs, 1970 to the Present."

Balogh is also co-host of "BackStory with the American History Guys," a weekly radio show and podcast that drills into the past and brings historical perspective to today’s headlines.
