Brian J Armstrong

Research Associate, The University of Melbourne

I am an archaeologist and researcher who specialises in various mapping and remote sensing technologies and their application to archaeological sites and landscapes in Australia and overseas. My current project at the University of Melbourne is conducted in collaboration with Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation. The project uses high resolution lidar scans of the UNESCO world heritage Budj Bim Landscape to help identify potential sites and help understand the Aboriginal engineering of the landscape. Key to this is the development of new methods of lidar processing, Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Visualisation and Machine Learning.
