Brian Robert Beabout

Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership, University of New Orleans

Brian Beabout is a former urban public school teacher currently serving as Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at The University of New Orleans. Informed by 9 years spent studying school reform in post-Katrina New Orleans, his persistent research interests include urban school leadership, school-community engagement, charter schools, educational change, and leadership for social justice. He was awarded the Emerging Scholar Award from the Educational Change Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association in 2013. His work has been published in The School Community Journal, Multicultural Education, The Journal of Educational Change, The International Journal of Educational Reform, The Journal of School Choice, and The Journal of Thought. He is a founding board member of the Morris Jeff Community School in New Orleans and an advisor to the National Coalition of Diverse Charter Schools.
