Associate Professional Researcher and Lecturer of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine

Brian Tarroja is a researcher and educator focused on exploring how to improve the robustness of strategies to carry out the transition to a decarbonized energy system and how to co-optimize concurrent transitions in energy, water, and transportation infrastructures to avoid unintended harmful consequences.

Currently, Brian leads and pursues original research in various aspects of these topics as an Associate Professional Researcher & Lecturer at the University of California Irvine. as part of the Advanced Power and Energy Program (APEP). He serves as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) on research projects, manages the Energy Systems Integration group of the APEP center, mentors graduate students in the research environment, supervises full-time research staff, and teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in Sustainable Energy Systems.

He is also a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of California in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
