Brittany Cardwell

After receiving her doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington in 2015, Brittany Cardwell took up a postdoc position at the University of Otago, working with Jamin Halberstadt. Dr. Cardwell’s research has broadly investigated why people come to believe the things they do. Her PhD research examined how photographs affect what people believe to be true about the world, and about their personal experiences. In her work as a postdoc, Brittany primarily examined supernatural beliefs—how those beliefs are influenced, the function they serve, and the extent to which people critically evaluate reasons for those beliefs.
