Carla graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2013 with an LLB with First Class Honours and University Commendation in 2016. She has since received her MA in Socio-legal and Criminological Research Methods with Distinction in 2017, also from the University of Nottingham.

Carla is currently studying for her PhD at the University; an empirical research project exploring how local authorities implement the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. This considers how the Homelessness Reduction Act interacts with existing housing duties, how housing officers execute their new and expanded duties and how housing officers perceive their roles after the Act. Her supervisors are Dr Nell Munro and Chris Bevan and she is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
