Carlos Alberto Sánchez

Professor of Philosophy, San José State University

Carlos was born in Anaheim, California in 1975. I attended elementary school in Mexico (Michoacan); junior high and high school in King City, California, graduating in 1994. He received a Bachelors of Science from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at San Jose State University in 1998, a Masters in Philosophy from the same place, and a PhD in Philosophy from The University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, NM, in 2006.

Carlos' past research has dealt primarily with the history of Mexican philosophy. Currently, he is actively exploring topics in the phenomenology of faith, the philosophy of violence, and the philosophies of original peoples (esp. indigenous philosophies of Mexico). These are three separate areas of research ultimately connected by Carlos' common interest in Latin American intellectual and cultural traditions.
