Assistant Head, School of Life Sciences, University of Westminster

I am currently Assistant Head in the School of Life Sciences at University of Westminster.
I studied BSc (Hons) Medical Biochemistry at University of Surrey, with sandwich placement at Cornell University Medical College, New York, USA. Continuation of this collaboration with Department of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medical College enabled me to pursue doctoral research and my PhD was awarded by the University of Surrey.

I spent four years as a postdoctoral researcher at University College London investigating molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular pathophysiology. I have published in international research journals. At University of Westminster, I teach molecular biology and genomics, biochemistry, chemistry, DNA identification and bioethics.

My laboratory based research focusses on molecular mechanisms of melanocortin signalling. I am actively involved in pedagogic research focussing on peer-marking on teaching, virtual laboratory simulations, leading projects in curriculum innovation and student experience.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and have an MA in Higher Education from University of Westminster. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and a member of the British Pharmacological Society.
