My undergraduate bachelors degree was in law (LLB (Hons) Kingston University, 1982). I then did my professional exams (Solicitors' Final Examination, 1983) and practised law for a couple of years before I did a masters in law (LLM, University of Cambridge, 1988). A developing interest in health law led me to undertake a masters in Medical Law and Ethics (MA, King's College London 1997). My PhD examined the divergence of views on best interests' decision-making (PhD, Kingston University, 2011). I am Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK (2016).
