Catherine Kovesi

Senior Lecturer in Early Modern Italian History, University of Melbourne

Catherine Kovesi is based at the University of Melbourne. Her main research interests are the discourses surrounding luxury consumption and greed in early modern Italy; Florentine family and political history; and the history of women religious in Australia.

She has held Fellowships at Oriel College, Oxford, at the University of Western Australia, and at the Harvard University Centre for Italian Renaissance Studies at Villa I Tatti.

Catherine has spent many months in the city of Venice. She brings students from Melbourne to Venice biannually, and also leads exclusive cultural tours of the city (http://shaps.unimelb.edu.au/about/crafting-venice-glory-glass-and-gondolas).
