Catherine Kovesi is based at the University of Melbourne. Her main research interests are the discourses surrounding luxury consumption and greed in early modern Italy; Florentine family and political history; and the history of women religious in Australia. She is currently co-general editor of the forthcoming Bloomsbury six-volume A Cultural History of Luxury.
She has held Fellowships at Oriel College, Oxford, at the University of Western Australia, and at the Harvard University Centre for Italian Renaissance Studies at Villa I Tatti.
Catherine has spent many months in the city of Venice. She brings students from Melbourne to Venice biannually, and is also a consultant for the Australia Council for the Arts cultural programme for supporters of the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale Arte.
