I’m generally interested in all aspects of palaeobiology, specifically taphonomy (the processes that an organism undergoes after death). I investigate taphonomy through decay experiments on modern organisms and chemical analysis of fossil material using methods such as X-ray fluorescence and mass spectrometry. As part of a larger group project on the preservation of colour in animals I am investigating the taphonomy of colour and the preservation of melanin in basal vertebrates and chordates.
