Christian Harkensee

Dr Christian Harkensee, MD PhD MSc DLSHTM DiMM PGCert Med Educ MFPHC (RCSEd) MAcadMedEduc FRCPCH

I am a children's doctor with longstanding extensive experience in clinical practice (consultant in general paediatrics, immunology and infectious diseases), research (infectious diseases, immunogenetics, humanitarian medicine), and undergraduate and postgraduate medical education (Associate Clinical Lecturer, Newcastle University).
Graduated in Medicine from Humboldt University in Berlin in 1997, I trained in Medicine, Paediatrics, Infectious Diseases and Immunology in Germany and the United Kingdom. Following research into the immunogenetics of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Tokai University in Japan and Newcastle University, I worked as a paediatric consultant in Singapore and the UK. My clinical and research interests include general paediatrics, infectious diseases and immunology, humanitarian, disaster relief and refugee medicine, mountain and expedition medicine, and osteoarchaeology.
