Christine is a Chartered Waste Manager and Chartered Environmentalist. She has worked in local authority waste management and has had a variety of roles in the waste management area in both private and public sectors working with Local Authorities, contractors and in consultancy prior to joining NTU (in 2015) and moving back to Loughborough in 2018 .

Christine's EngD at Loughborough University was a collaborative project sponsored by Charnwood Borough Council and Serco. The research explored sustainable waste management solutions and investigated a Local Authority approach to Zero Waste. This mapped policy development, contract procurement, engagement with stakeholders and householder behaviour towards waste management, resulting in the implementation of the Zero Waste Strategy for Charnwood Borough.
