Christopher Ashton

Associate Visiting Lecturer, Manchester Metropolitan University

I have worked for the NHS for approximately 20 years, starting my employment with the North West Ambulance Service until my switch over to the newly established regional stroke network. Additionally to my associate lecturing position at MMU, I have strong links with Edge Hill University as a visiting lecturer in stroke and pathways of care.

My role working for the Greater Manchester Stroke Network as their Coordinator involves daily engagement with all stakeholders throughout the regional stroke pathway whilst taking lead on service improvement projects. I have a keen eye for data and work with teams throughout the region and nationally helping them understand and improve audit data for both the pre-hospital, acute and community settings.

Nationally I am currently one of the Paramedic Co-chairs for “The national pre hospital stroke working group” for NHSE/I and have previously assisted JRCALC as an author of the stroke chapter in the national guidelines of 2019.
