Clare L. Stacey, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Sociology at Kent State University in Ohio. Her work investigates the provision of healthcare to the elderly and disabled in the US, with a particular focus on long-term and end of life services. She is the author of The Caring Self: The Work Experiences of Home Care Aides (2011) and co-editor of a recent volume entitled, Caring on the Clock: The Complexities and Contradictions of Paid Care Work (2015). Her work also appears in various academic journals, including Sociology of Health and Illness, Social Science and Medicine and the Journal of Healthcare for the Poor and Underserved. In 2012, Dr. Stacey's book The Caring Self received the Recent Contribution Award from the Emotions Section of the American Sociological Association. She received her B.A. from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1996 and her Ph.D. from UC Davis in 2004.
