Professor of Resource Futures, University of Technology Sydney

Damien Giurco is Professor of Resource Futures at the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures.

His research interests span the minerals, energy and water sectors; industrial ecology and sustainable consumption and production. With a focus on both individual and collaborative transitions, Damien’s research aims to foster the implementation of urban and industrial infrastructure which supports responsible patterns of resource use in the digital age.

Presently, Damien directs the Wealth from Waste Cluster, a three year collaboration between UTS, CSIRO, Monash, Yale, Swinburne and the University of Queensland researching new opportunities, processes and business models to harness value from metal-bearing waste from electronic waste to urban scrap and mine waste. He also co-chaired the 2015 World Resources Forum Asia-Pacific in Sydney, 1-3 June on the theme of resource productivity and innovation for the circular economy, see wrfasiapacific2015.net
