Darren O'Connell

Sessional Lecturer, Curtin University

Darren O’Connell is a casual Research Assistance and Sessional Lecturer at the School of Economics & Finance, Curtin University where he has been practising since 2011. Darren completed his PhD and undergraduate studies at Curtin University.

His research interests include British and Australian nineteenth century economic history and institutions, of the kind popularised by Nobel Prize winner Douglass C. North. His doctoral study included the gathering and systematising of a vast quantity of Australian colonial data, a passion that has continued post-graduation and much of it never before published. He has actively collaborated with researchers in several other disciplines of the school, particular within the finance realm of risk management and has publications in the Journal of Derivatives, the Journal of Corporate Ownership and Control.
