Emeritus Professor of Computer Systems Engineering, University of Sheffield

After obtaining a PhD at the University of Cambridge in 1977, David Allerton worked for Marconi Space and Defence Systems Ltd before moving to a lectureship in the Department of Electronics at the University of Southampton. He was appointed as Professor of Avionics in the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield University in 1990 and moved to the University of Sheffield to the Chair of Computer Systems Engineering in 2001, where he is currently an Emeritus Professor.
David Allerton has served on several national advisory committees for aerospace, is a member of the Council of the Royal Aeronautical Society where he also serves on the Flight Simulation Committee. He has been a Director of Cranfield Aerospace and is currently a Director of Aerosoft Ltd. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering Technology. His research interests include flight simulation, air traffic management, computer graphics and neuroscience.
