Director, Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University

David is the Director of the Australian Rivers Institute and in his Professorial role has used water models extensively to support management decisions for catchments, including rivers, lakes and estuaries. He has interests in addressing calibration and uncertainty in water models to improve the quality of environmental decision making. David has worked across engineering and environmental sciences to provide interdisciplinary understanding of the ecology and biogeochemistry of aquatic systems. This work has been recognised through awards from the New Zealand Society of Freshwater Sciences and the International Society of Limnology. David has contributed to the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management in New Zealand, working with the Ministry of the Environment to support its scientific rigour and implementation.
