Professor of Sociology, University of South Florida

David Jacobson is Professor of Sociology at the University of South Florida. His books have included *Rights Across Borders: Immigration and the Decline of Citizenship*, and *Of Virgins and Martyrs: Women and Sexuality in Global Conflict*, both published by the Johns Hopkins University Press. He previously was Professor of Global Studies at Arizona State University, and a co-founder of Global Resolve, addressing development challenges in low income countries. He is completing a book, jointly with Dr. Manlio Cinalli at the University of Milan, on citizenship's "third revolution" and the recasting of politics in democracies.

His work has featured in Salon.com, New York Times, France 2 Television, the Nation, La Croix, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Tages Anzeiger, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Foreign Policy, Sonntags Zeitung, Haaretz and a variety of other media outlets.

He completed his graduate education at the London School of Economics (MSc) and at Princeton University (PhD). He was born in Kimberley, South Africa.
