David Paton is Chair of Industrial Economics at Nottingham University Business School. He has published widely in the areas of the economics of gambling, sport (particularly cricket) and teenage pregnancy.

Professor Paton gained his PhD in Economics from University College, London and is currently Professor of Industrial Economics at Nottingham University Business School. His research interests include the economics of betting markets, gambling taxation, economics of sport and the economics of teenage pregnancy.

His work on teenage pregnancy has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Health Economics, Demography and the Nursing Times. He is frequently invited to discuss his work on broadcast outlets such as Newsnight, Women’s Hour, Radio 5 Live, Channel 4 News and the Today Programme. Professor Paton has given Oral Evidence to the Education Select Committee’s Inquiry into PSHE and SRE.
