Lecturer in Marketing, University of York

My research interests focus on ways in which marketing impacts society. One area of my expertise is in examining marketing communications, particularly in the context of public health and sexual health, together with the shifting history of advertising and public health stakeholders on public health campaigns. In addition, I have research expertise in consumer culture, including shifts in consumption due to political and economic change. I utilise marketing theory and industry practice—having spent 27 years in industry prior to joining academia. I predominantly utilise qualitative and historical approaches of methodology, that have the potential to illuminate many areas deemed within the broad scope of marketing.
