DB Subedi is a lecturer in Sociology and Peace Studies in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of New England in Australia. His research and teaching interest focus on peace and security with particular power, governance and policy and how they impact addressing violent conflicts, recovery and reconstruction after war and disasters and facilitating humanitarian support in natural and man-made disasters.
He has conducted extensive fieldwork in South and South-East Asia, especially Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh. He is currently working on a research project that studies the intersection of religious extremism and politics and its implications for building peace and social cohesion in South Asia.
