Dean Nizetic made significant contributions to understanding the molecular mechanisms that underpin a number of common diseases linked to Down's syndrome: early developmental dis-regulations, childhood leukaemia, accelerated ageing and Alzheimer's dementia. Prof. Nizetic headed the Cellular Stream (using human iPSC modelling) within The Wellcome Trust (UK) Strategic Funding Award winning “LonDownS Consortium”, that focuses on research in Alzheimer’s dementia in Down syndrome.
