Dr Iderlina Mateo-Babiano is Associate Professor in Urban Planning and Assistant Dean, Diversity and Inclusion, Melbourne School of Design (the University of Melbourne). She is part of the award-winning Place Agency consortium (www.placeagency.org.au).
She has convened the Women in Transport Leadership Knowledge Network (www.witl.info) and led several placemaking workshops leading to productive collaboration to advance positive transport- and place-based change.
She has also advanced a significant body of knowledge on 'streets as places, Active transport (walking and cycling), gender and transport, with theory and policy implications within the Australian and Asian setting. Her latest books are Placemaking Sandbox Emergent Approaches, Techniques and Practices to Create more Thriving Places (Palgrave McMillan, 2020) and Parking: An International Perspectie (Elsevier, 2020).
She teaches and coordinates the undergraduate subject urban Design for People and Places as well as the master-level subjects Cities without Slums and Placemaking for the Built Environment.
