Diane Burgess teaches Arts Studies in Research and Writing at the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on film festivals, distribution, and cultural policy. She co-wrote a chapter about research methodology in Film Festivals: History, Theory, Method, Practice and a chapter about BC Cinema in Self: Portraits: The Cinemas of Canada Since Telefilm. She has published articles about the Whistler Film Festival and federal film festival policy in the Canadian Journal of Film Studies, as well as a review of the Internet Cat Video Festival’s memetic virality in NECSUS European Journal of Media Studies. From 2000-2005, Diane was the Canadian Images Programmer for the Vancouver International Film Festival.
