Dominic McSherry

Senior Research Fellow and psychologist, School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work, Queen's University Belfast

I've been working as a research psychologist in Queen's University Belfast for the last 16 years, following the completion of my PhD in Cognitive Psychology in the same university. I'm particularly interested in the lives of children and young people in care and adopted from care, and how systems can be designed to ensure the best outcomes. I've been Principal Investigator on the longitudinal 'Care Pathways and Outcomes' study since 2003. This has been following a population of children who were under the age of five and in care in Northern Ireland on March 2000. I've recently (August 2015) been awarded circa £1M by the ESRC to take forward the fourth wave of this study, and this will involve interviewing the young people when they are aged between 17 and 22 years old.
