Dr Anouk M Borst

Research Fellow Geology, University of St Andrews

I am currently a NERC-funded postdoctoral research fellow at the University of St Andrews, as part of the SoS RARE consortium, studying rift-related alkaline magmatism and the mineralogy of ore deposits. I received BSc (2010) and MSc (2012) degrees in Geology from the VU University Amsterdam, and a doctorate in Petrology and Economic Geology (2016) from the University of Copenhagen. During my PhD I was employed at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, where I studied potential economic rare metal deposits in Southern Greenland.

I have published research on the mineralogy and geochemistry of a variety of magmatic rocks, both terrestrial and lunar, in journals such as Nature Communications, Journal of Petrology, Mineralogical Magazine, Lithos and Planetary and Space Science. Recently I was invited to give an early career researchers keynote at the recent 3rd Critical Metals Conference in Edinburgh (Mar 2019) and to be a member on the Rare Earth Industry Association expert panel in Brussels (Jun 2019).
