Dr. Felipe Romero-Moreno is a Principal Lecturer and Research Lead at the University of Hertfordshire’s Schools of Law and Education, where he specializes in the intersection of emerging technologies, such as generative AI, and fundamental human rights. He also serves as an external examiner at the Open University.
Dr. Romero-Moreno's research explores the legal and ethical challenges posed by technologies like AI, with a particular focus on intellectual property, privacy, data protection, freedom of expression, and due process. He has published extensively on these topics in leading academic journals and is a sought-after speaker at international conferences.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Romero-Moreno advises government bodies in the UK and EU, including submitting evidence to the UK House of Lords and providing expertise to the UK Intellectual Property Office on matters relating to AI and copyright. He is also actively involved in shaping policy at the EU level through his engagement with the EU Parliament and EU Intellectual Property Office.
Dr. Romero-Moreno holds a PhD and an LLM, with a further LLM by Research in IT/IP law. He is an active member of the British and Irish Law Education and Technology Association (BILETA), serving on its Executive Committee.
