Dr Franklin Onukwugha

Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Public Health, University of Hertfordshire

Dr Franklin Onukwugha is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Public Health at the School of Life and Medical Sciences, University of Hertfordshire. Prior to this time, He was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR), University of Hull UK, and the Lead Coordinator for the Hull Global Health Research Network (GHRN). He is a visiting Lecturer at the University of Sunderland in London.
Franklin has over 15 years of international research experience in the area of global public health, focusing mainly on adolescent sexual/reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and maternal/child health in sub-Saharan Africa. He has led and collaborated on many Global Health projects mainly in Kenya and Nigeria. His PhD (in Social Policy) underpinned by the Socio-Ecological Model examined the determinants of adolescents’ access and utilisation of Sexual and Reproductive Health services in Nigeria. Scholarly outputs from this work have been published in high-impact journals. He is a mixed methods researcher with expertise in statistical modelling of population-level data, qualitative research, and systematic reviews.
