I currently work as an observational astronomer at the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) hosted by the South African Astronomical Observatory. During my PhD I helped with the construction and commissioning of the Kilodegree Extremely Little Telescope (KELT) in Sutherland. This telescope is designed specifically to find exoplanets that orbit around some of the brightest stars in the sky. My current scientific research focuses on the detection and validation of exoplanet candidates using high precision radial velocity techniques as well as the characterisation of the exoplanets themselves (density, chemical composition, etc).
