Duane's current interests fall into the areas of diabetes including patient education and nutritional interventions along with a clinical research interest in diabetes and obesity in pregnancy. Current research projects include:

Beneficial effects of flavonoids in diabetes and cardiovascular health, including novel methods to enhance bioavailability
Duane previously taught dietetics at the Universities of Chester and Nottingham. This followed a research post at the University of Hull where he completed his PhD investigating the effects of polyphenol rich chocolate on cardiovascular risk factors in Type 2 Diabetes. Clinically as a dietitian he has extensively worked in the fields of diabetes and obesity with a special interest in nutrition and pregnancy.
