Senior Programme Manager Pact Mines to Markets, University of Exeter

Dylan McFarlane is a professional gold miner from Alaska, USA working as senior program officer of Pact’s Mines to Markets program. Dylan’s 10+ years of professional mining expertise spans placer gold mining, mineral exploration, corporate social responsibility, and mining engineering. He is an expert on cleaner, safer gold processing methods and related aspects of the value chain. He holds an MSc in Mining Engineering from the Camborne School of Mines, UK where he was on an Anglo American scholarship and an MA in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews, UK. He was also a Scholar at the United World College of the Mid-West, USA. Prior to Pact, Dylan was Project Manager for an EU 5 million project on rare earth mineral exploration; he also helped design and deliver an online education program in mining engineering for industry professionals from Africa & Asia. Dylan’s technical experience spans all stages of the mining life cycle. He has commissioned mercury-free gold mines in Tanzania, Chile, and Alaska.
