Ed Manley

Ed Manley is Professor of Urban Analytics in the School of Geography, University of Leeds, and Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. His work focuses on uses of computational and analytical methods to better understand and predict complex behavioural and social processes over geographic space. This research focuses mainly on intersections of mobility choices and social outcomes, such as public health and economic activity, and applies methods including data science and agent-based simulation. He is also interested in modelling the cognitive processes involved in spatial decisions, in particular those involving navigation choices. He is a co-author of the book ‘Agent-based Modelling and Geographical Information Science’, published by Sage, he chairs the GIScience Research Group at the Royal Geographical Society, and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
