Elghafiky Bimardhika currently works on a ADBI (Asian Development Bank Institute)-funded research on the impact of natural disaster on educational achievements and with Oxford Policy Management Indonesia (OPMI) for a World Bank's project on barriers to legal and identification documents for marginalized communities in Indonesia.
Prior to this, he was a research Manager at Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab South East Asia (J-PAL SEA). His portfolio of research experience at J-PAL SEA includes early childhood development, social protection, drug rehabilitation, distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, gender-based violence & unpaid care work, financial inclusion, tax education, and labor market. Other than research projects, he also supervised the establishment and the development of Komite Etik Penelitian, an Institutional Review Board (IRB) under J-PAL SEA's host institution, Lembaga Penyelidikan Ekonomi dan Masyarakat (LPEM), Universitas Indonesia. He was also a member of the J-PAL Gender Working Group.
Elghafiky holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Indonesia and is now pursuing graduate study in Master of International and Development Economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University.
