Lecturer in Creative Writing, Griffith University

I am a writer, academic, editor and critic. My research primarily focuses on representations of unstable housing in twentieth and twenty-first century novels, poetry, film, television and other media. I am interested in representations of housing crises, experiences of insecure renting, home renovation culture, and changing practices of dwelling in contemporary Australia and abroad, and I explore these experiences in both my scholarship, which has been widely published, and my own creative writing practice. My debut collection of poems, Dead Bolt, explores uncanny dwelling and won the Puncher & Wattmann Prize for a First Book of Poems, the Anne Elder Award and was shortlisted for the Mary Gilmore Award. She is the recipient of a 2022 Australia Council Individuals Grant, a 2021 Queensland Writers Fellowship and the Mick Dark Fellowship for Environmental Writing, and is the winner of a 2019 Queensland Premier’s Young Publishers and Writers Award.
